So I decided to reinstall Starcraft the other day because I missed the game. I played online fine and such. Today, it didn't work at all, I was getting a "cannot connect to battle.net server blah blah." I figured that it was a firewall issue so I decided to trade in Norton Firewall (internet security) for Kerio. During the installation, it froze so I killed the process (stupid of me.) Now this security popup keeps coming up (firewall protection is turned off) and will not go away. I can't uninstall Norton for some reason (not through add/remove programs anyway.) How can I effectively get rid of these security alerts? I don't need Norton, so I'm willing to get rid of it.Thanks for your time.

try to reinstall norton ontop of whats there.
restart your system, then go into add/remove
and try to remove it.
if that dont work, post back

In spite of how badly Norton products are beaten up on forums, they still persist as the major commercial products purchased. And what is even funnier, they are so insidious that you have to go to Symantec websites most of the time to find removal tools for their software.Isn't that also what we do with most virus and worms? But few get the connection.

Install again to uninstall. If you put the cd in and choose install, you should get an option to remove. if that doesn't work install again, and then uninstall using cd this time. Make sure remnants of Kerio are out as the above explains Norton doesn't work well with other firewalls.
You might want to shut down Windows Security center in Control Panel, Admin Tools, Services, Security Center and disable that little piece of crap so you can think straight (leave it that way too)...I'd rather have a mosquite crawl in my ear than have Security center running anyway!Rich M

Thanks, I've managed to disable the security alerts. But now a lot of my internet demanding programs that aren't AIM or Mozilla Firefox or Bitcomet won't function. This list includes but really isn't limited to:
Gmail Checker
Gunbound (don't laugh)
Starcraft
Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory
GunZ updater (Game works fine I think)
MSN MessengerAny help is appreciated. Thanks.

Runb Online virus checker at Trend Micro or www.bit defender.com...something isn't right.

PZERO, hopefully, you were able to get rid of Norton's if that's your wish. Did you mark those items to be passed using your new firewall?

I'm pretty sure its not a virus, I've got AVG updated and run regular scans.
Currently, I'm thinking its a firewall conflict, which is strange because the only thing active is Kerio Personal Firewall. I'm pretty sure that nothing is configured to block secure sites and connections, the problem I have now.
So far, I've used:
Kerio
Norton
ZoneAlarm
Windows FirewallNo program or website requiring a secure connection is working.
