Hello!
Can anybody tell me a little about speed disk? More specifically, is it any good. Because after I ran it, I checked to see if my disk needed defragging and it did....BIG TIME!
So is it better to have a defragmented drive or a norton speed disk optimized drive?
Also, after running the speed disk utility and getting the 'finished optimizing drive message' I clicked to run the utility again and it started moving files all over again. Why would it need to move stuff it had already moved when it told me the drive was optimized?Cheers in advance for any answers.

Speed drive is a good program. Almost any defrag program will do that on a badly fragmented drive. Works even better run in the safe mode. I personally use perfectdisk.

Norton's SpeedDisk is an OK product, but personally, I'd use the defragmenter that comes with XP before SpeedDisk (and I'm a HUGE fan of Norton Utilities!)... it's quicker, and more efficient, IMHO. An alternative, and a very good one at that, is O & O Defrag (http://www.oo-software.com/en/) it's not free, but it's certainly worth the purchase price... it offers many different modes of defage, the 'stealth' being the quickest (but not the most efficient)...
As to your question about starting to move things around again, files that may have been deemed in use, or otherwise not used as frequently could now be seen differently, hence the re-reorganization.... it's not uncommon - almost any defragger will do the same. Sometimes a second defrag can be beneficial, othertimes, not. Depends on the state of the drive, the way the system is used, etc.
