I'm considering buying NG to image my drive. I realize it will write the image to a group of CDs. However, my A: drive is temporarily out of the tower. Question: Does Norton Ghost require any use of the floppy drive whatsoever?

FWIK, the only time NG requires the floppy drive is when you want to restore Ghost from an external USB device.

Yes. Ghost boots from a floppy for the cloning. I believe the new one ver 9, works from the windows environment. Not familiar with it. Casperxp works from windows.

Take a look at Acronis True Image. I believe it creates a bootable CD for disaster recovery purposes.
Or, go out and get a floppy (i just got one for $10 and it works perfectly).
