Norton Antivirus Troubles

After updating my virus defs yesterday, whenever i try to scan w/ Norton it comes up with a critical error, and it states that it caused an error in the module ntdll.dll. Also, sometimes the virus shield remains disabled at startup, which only started occuring yesterday. I would appreciate if someone could help me. Thanks. BTW, Running Norton Antivirus 2002, Win XP Pro

Sounds like you have a virus! Some viruses will disable your anti-virus software. 1. Try running System Restore first. It may fix whatever is wrong -- go back a day to when it was working. 2. On my Norton System Works Pro cd, there is a REPAIR option in the file menu for the NAV 2002 program. You might look for, and try that. 3. Have you updated the NAV 2002 program itself ? Run Live Update if you can. As a last resort, you could try reinstalling NAV 2002. 4. If there is a missing or corrupted system file, go to Accessories/Command Prompt; type in 'sfc/scannow'. Have your Win XP cd in the drive. Takes about 20 minutes to check for and replace bad XP system files.

try re-installing norton........i had a similar problem with regards to the norton startup causing errors.....re-intsalling the program did the trick
