Hello, I have been using Norton Antivirus for a few years now and read how NA2006 has a feature that automatically detects and prevents spyware/adware. If that is true I will buy that software now, since I use Ad-Aware and always have ad aware on my PC since I use IE (I know Firefox is loved and has the best security but I do not like how it makes great looking sites so plain and some other nitpick reasons on why I choose to stick with IE) Anyway, can anyone confirm that Norton Antivirus 2006 prevents adaware automatically? Thanks

Norton AntiVirus 2006

The good: Norton AntiVirus 2006 offers improved detection and removal of spyware and adware.

The bad: New Norton Protection Center introduces more clutter than useful features; Norton AntiVirus 2006 waits until spyware installs before catching and removing it.

The bottom line: Norton AntiVirus 2006 improves its detection and removal of spyware and adware but lags behind the more proactive McAfee VirusScan 2006.

Thanks. I may still stick with Norton since I use Norton Ghost as well and I like how it all updates at once.

I don't think there is any one program that can detect and remove all adware. You need a combination of at least two. I use a program called "spyware blaster" that does a good job of keeping ad-ware and spy-ware off of my machine. Before using it, whenever running Ad-aware, I would get at least 15-20 to delete. With spyware blaster running, I usually only get 2-3 to remove. It is free.

try windows defender. Microsoft's AntiSpyware application claims to detect/stop spyware b4 it is installed. it's actually a pretty decent program.
