How do I re-install Norton Antivirus when the installation tells me it's aleady installed?
I took it off to try McAfee instead, but I used the ticked box in McAfee to do so. I later removed McAfee due to freezing problems.
Because Norton is not now listed under Add/Remove, I cannot uninstall it. It's not listed under c/progs/ and a start/search fails to find it.
There are lots of entries in regedit though!
Any advice would be appreciatedThanks
Jeff

Jeff- please let me know if you solve this. I installed NSW on WIN XP and could not get auto protect to work. I followed Symantec's instructions and deleted all the C: NSW drive references and files as well as the Registry entries. It's no longer in add/remove (which you can delete using Tweak UI). But the reinstall program thinks its still on my machine & will not reinstall it. They recommend using a clean boot (disable all your start up add ons).
I found Symantec Tech Support to be less than helpful. They said they're working on the Script Error message problem which started all my troubles.

I personally don't like Norton Antivirus at all because of problems like the one you have. I use PC-cillin 2000 on conjunction with Zone Alarm Pro. My answer to your question which I hope helps is to down load the trial version of System Mechanic. It has some features in it which allow you to clean your registry etc. You can use it for 30 days. It works great so I bought it.

You can download a tool to remove NAV here:
http://service4.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nav.nsf/docid/2001092114452606

The Rnav.exe doesn`t work. I tried everything System Mechanic, Respilent Registar, Regedit, Rnav, NBG Clean Registry Boot Cleaner and no way!? Please help!
