One day i turned on my computer and it went to desk top like usual i did a disk cleanup then was going to do a disk defrag but when i hit the defrag button the computer made funney noises almost like something broke or got stuck and now every time i turn on the computer theres a black screen that appears saying non-disk or disk error strike key when ready.some one please help cause i have no clue whats wrong.

Before we get in too deep; first thing to look for
- check and be sure there is not a floppy in the A: Drive drive.

no luck?

-restart the computer tap the F8 key until you are prompted with choices for booting up. Choose Last Known Good Configuration, press Enter.

If still a no go; boot to the cd and choose the "Recovery" option.

you might also try testing the connections on your hard drive, check that all cables are tightly connected, especially the power connection and check that both ends of the gresy? cable are connected well at the H/d and the mobo.

it just happens that some vibrations make the connections loose after time
