When using the IR port to connect to the internet i connect at 28.8k. A friend has the same mobile but when connect on his portable only manages 9.6k.
I've tried using both phones on his portable but only ever get 9.6, on my portable using either phone always get 28.8k. One phone on Orange the other on O2.
