It seems when there is a lot of Hard Drive Activity my computer will noise up. I put in a new Heatsink/Fan for the processor because the noise seemed to be coming from there. The noise seems to come and go. If I shutdown the computer for a while, it goes away but returns. It seems to be associated with a load on the computer, such as a lot of programs open or excessive HDD activity. It's not the fan speed increasing. It's a nuisance noise. Thanks, Golfer 24

When was the last time the hard drive had maintenance on it; for example scanning for errors and defragmentation? The hard drive will make more noise as programs are accessing it because it has to read different sectors of the drive.
