I have the WinFast 2000 TV XP RM card and when connected the the small audio cable from the card to the aux on my SB Live card. Card is installed correctly. When I start the PVR software I get loud noises, but no sound from the TV, or it is so quiet you can't hear it, except the noise.
Any ideas?

Thank you.

I have the same question as the person that responded in your other post. What Aux on your SBlive card. The Jumper should go from line out on the TV card to line in on the sound card. You are connecting the black jumper externally on the back of your case?

I am not sure what you mean with the jumper. There is a small plug on the TV card and on the sound card. I use the little cable provided to go from the TV card to aux on the sound card, just as the cable from the CD-ROM device goest to CD-IN on the soundcard. Thanks

Well, I have a Haupauge WinTV2000 and there are no internal connections between the cards. The TV card is connected externally to the Line In port on the sound card. Maybe you have something different. Did you buy this card new? Do you have the installation instructions? Verify that you have connected this card right. I also have a Redeon AIW card with TV out and it also connects on the outside of the case.

Thanks for you reply.
I did follow the instruction in the manual.
My board looks like this: ftp://ftp1.leadtek.com/tv_tuner/TV_Card_Manual/040128/board_layout.pdf
I think it is Series Model 4 because mine does not have an FM antenna output, but it does not say WinFast XP RM.
The audio cable goes into the sound card. It does not say aux, but where else would it go, if it goes straight on the board? Options: tad-in, aux, cd-in.

If that is the case then when you configure the card you need to set the sound source as line in. I haven't seen a TV card that has internal cabling, but I don't doubt your word.

What I should have said was to look for a sound source in the configuration settings. If found set to line in. This is how my ATI AIW setup works. It is somewhat confusing and the first time I installed the card I had no sound.

Thanks. In the software there is nothing to set; this is done automatically according to Leadtek. The only place I can think about putting it in is aux. There is no line in for the cable. I have no clue and have not gotten replies from Leadtek. :-(

I don't mean to change the location where you are connecting the sound cable. What I mean is the source for the sound may be selectable in the setup of the card. My ATI AIW can receive the sound from more than one source. In the setup I need to select the correct source of the sound. In my case it is Line-in. I don't know if you have any such options. Are you sure you are connecting to the correct output on the sound card? It sounds like you have it connected right on the TV card. Also, is the cable polarized, or can you plug in two ways?

Joe
I finally DLed the manual for your card and see what you are dealing with. Two possibilities come to mind. The first is what I mentioned in the last reply about polarity on the cable. The second is the SB software. Its been awile since I used that software but it seems to me there may be some options in there concerning the ports on the card. Controls, etc. Also Windows may have some options that you can adjust. Look at all the controls in both areas.

Thanks for your continued help. hope you don't mind me alerting you.
I think I understand what you are saying but the software seems to handle the audio controls of windows automatically. I notice that because when I start the program it unmutes aux, and mutes aux upon closure.
I think it does not matter how you enter the small cable, it is not polorized, as you say. There is not so much I can do... cable connected, card has no conflicts, picture is there, software works...
Maybe I should mention I have more than one audio cards in my PC. On board and two others. My default is the Sound Blaster Live. I do a lot with music, hehe... but since the cable goes to the SB Live Value, and that is the card I hear... I guess that is not an issue. Do you have XP, maybe you could do remote assistance and have a look if you don't mind.
Cheers,
Joe

I don't use XP, sorry. The software can be a pain though. In the past I had my ATI recording the closed captioning and now I can't seem to get the setting right to do it again.

Hello,
Still no answer from Leadtek. If you don't mind, take a look at this pdf file: http://www.leadtek.com.tw/eng/support/faq/FAQ_How_to_setup_the_audio_of_my_TV2000_XP_RM_111804.pdf
There you can see exactly what I mean. A picture of the small cable and setup.
Funny thing, I scanned for channels, no sound is audible but channel 9 got my a radio station, even though it's not an FM tuner and it's not connected to a FM antenna. LOL...
Thanks

In response #9 I stated I had downloaded the manual for that card. Maybe you need to get with Leadtek for tech support. Probably have to do that via Email.

The link in response 12 is a different PDF file, it's an image of the board and cable. Just take a look at it if you don't mind, maybe you have another idea... it's less KB too. (ca. 300 kb). but don't want to cause you any more trouble, you've been a big help.
I've contacted Leadteak a few days ago... not heard from them though... still waiting. People here are smarted sometimes than tech-support :D

OK I looked at the PDF. The socket IS Polarized. I can't tell if the cable is polorized too. What polarized means is there is only one way it will go. Look on one side of the socket and you will notice a place for a locking tang to engage a spot and snap into place. The issue may be the cable is reversed. The connector is a 4 wire connector with only three wires in it. If you look carefully you will notice the red wire is toward the top in the picture. the colors can be identified at the other end too. Check this out.

Thanks. I checked it and it is plugged in the right way. I used a different cable that fitted exactly, and if you turned it the other way around it would not fit. Some thing, same sound.
