On a Non-Booting HD which can be accessed as Slave:
1]Is it possible to access --read-- the info that was in the Control Panel,Startup items,Event viewer, etc entries?
Are speaking of a hard drive with the xp o/s on it that won't boot? You might want to be more explicit. You can try knoppix or the ultimate boot disk after installing it as the master.

Yes,the non-booting slave drive is XP & the master is XP. I am trying to diagnose what caused the boot problem.[I have already recovered the data.]
I wonder if Control Panel,Startup items,Event viewer, etc entries can be read somehow & if Registry info can be read or modified in general on a non-booting HD:
1]Running as Slave 2]via Recovery Console 3]Booting from Floppy/using DOS.
I have used 3 these techniques but don't know where to look for the registry info ...or even if Control Panel,Startup items,Event viewer can only be accessed from the Registry Editor.
