Hi everyone. My PC has on board AC 97 sound. For some reason, i can't get the volume control panel up! It is not on my tool bar and when I click on sounds and audio devices in control panel, the "advanced" button is greyed out. I think I need to install some drivers for it to work? But my sound drivers ARE installed....it is puzzeling!

Plus I thought Windows Volume Control came with Windows? I think it was there but it suddenly went a few months ago. Can't changed any device volumes!

Help much appreciated!
Cheers. Josh.

Try a SEARCH for:

sndvol32.exe

It should be the following folder:

C:\WINDOWS\system32

If not, then put it there.
--------------
Or check Windows Components in Add\Remove Programs

You will need to uninstall and reinstall multimedia/vol control which is hidden by default in XP..If you need the instructions post back.
