No Windows sounds but have MP3

No Windows sounds but have MP3..I can play mp3's but not streamed radio.. All the windows sounds are gone too.. Checked the Scheme..fine
Sound card is working ..any ideas

i'm not in front of xp, but I think it has this option. Go to Control Panel, then Add/Remove Programs. Then go to the option on there to install/remove Windows Components. Look for a multimedia section if it has it, and there may be a way to reinstall that. I'd be more detailed but I'm at work on a win 95 machine :(
