HI,

I cannot find my temporary internet files. They where there, now they are gone.

When i go to C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\MY PROFILE There is no TIF folder there, however if i go to the guest account there is a TIF folder here but it is empty(I Presume because it is never used).

Can anyone tell me where they have gone and how to get them back.

I can still see COOKIES- START MENU- FAVOURITES Ect but the TIF folder has gone.

Also i have a file named ntuser.dat in there which i cannot delete and it wasn't there last week.

Thanks for ya help

Dirk.

dont try to delete that ntuser.dat, thats your users registry file, to remove a users profile you must have admin rights and use the user profiles tab instead.

Oh yes it was. It's a registry file and has always been there. if it wasn't there, your OS wouldn't work.

Dirk, you need to slow down and really check out your system. Judging from the haphazard way you are looking around your system and finding (or not finding) files, you are in for big trouble at this rate.

I don't mean this to sound condisending but you can do a lot of damage from not paying attention to what you are doing.

Yes Dirk, you can find all Temporary Internet Files in Disk Cleanup. I have my Disk Cleanup Icon on the desktop. You can find them by clicking Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Toolls, Disk Cleanup. Hilight the line Temporary Internet Files, further down click the View Files button. Here you'll see several Folders which can be oppened, you can view the pictures, open the htm files, find out what others have visited on your machine, you can copy or move the pics or htm files to any location on your computer, and you can delete all the folders. Beside the folders there are files such as desktop.ini and Index.dat The Index.dat cannot be deleted here.
Cheers de Peter

Thanks everyone.
The point i was trying to make is that in my user profile on c: there was a file named LOCAL, and inside this folder there as the TIF folder. Now there is no local folder. And Don it WAS there last week and ntuser.dat WAS NOT.

I wasn't aware you had used my computer.....PRATT!
