no task manager

when i try to access task manager either through 'ctrl+alt+del' or 'Run:C:\WINDOWS\Taskmanager.exe' nothing happens except the timer breifly appearing next to the pointer. Any ideas?

James, Go to the link below and look under the letter "T", scroll down to "Task Manager - Control/Alt/Delete - Doesn't work" where you'll find several possible fixes.
