Exactly what the subject says really...
When I open up my display properties, from the control panel or from right-clicking on the desktop, the tabs are not displayed. I can "tab" up to where they should be and go to each section using the arrow keys, but am wondering where they're gone and if there is a way to fix it?
Please help and thanks in advance.

You can disable these tabs remotely using group policys, or login scripts that modify the registry. If this is a work PC, then in all likely-hood, you support people have done this deliberatly to prevent resolution changes or othe general user tampering.
If this is your own PC, then it may still be the same reason. Run gpedit.msc
and navigate to 'User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Control Panel'. There are several options in there for tweaking the display menu.

There's also a RegFix-Patch for it at
http://www.dougknox.com/
I'll snoop around in there and post if I find it.

Reinstalling the drivers for your graphics card may restore them.
In the past, I've come across a post from someone who thought the tabs were gone, but then he noticed they had just shrunken to an unusable size. Can you check that?

The tabs are still there - I can click on them (if I'm very exact) and I can "tab" to them and select them with the arrow keys. They just don't seem to actually be there (they're not visible).

ControlPanel>System>Advanced>
[Performance]How about turning off all the fancy stuff to see if that has any effect?

1)
browse to your c:\windows\inf folder
and rightclick to 'install' on display.inf2)
These are the dll files that are being used by
c:\windows\system\desk.cpl
which is the DisplayProperties panel.Use regsvr32 to manually register the dlls.
Note that some of them may not be on your system, and only self-registering ones will succeed.Press WinKey+R to get the RUN-box (or START>RUN), and type this:
regsvr32 xxxxxx.dllntdll.dll, kernel32.dll, msvcrt.dll,
GDI32.dll, USER32.dll, ADVAPI32.dll,
RPCRT4.dll, IMAGEHLP.dll, shell32.dll,
SHLWAPI.dll, comctl32.dll, comctl32.dll,
nView.dll, PSAPI.DLL, ole32.dll,
OLEAUT32.dll, WINMM.dll, VERSION.dll,
MSCTF.dll, desk.cpl, CLBCATQ.DLL,
COMRes.dll, themeui.dll, Secur32.dll,
MSIMG32.dll, UxTheme.dll, appHelp.dll,
LGMOUSHK.dll

My suggestion for changing the policies doesn't affect the following reg key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
However, if you add the dword value:
NoDispScrSavPage = 1
to this key, it has the effect of removing the Screen Saver tab.Someone else suggested a link to a reg fix, which may have been the same thing I don't know. Other wise it's worth a try.
Incidently, if these values aren't there, if you add them and set the values to '0', then this should show them, assuming whatever is masking them doesn't override it?
The other tabs are controlled by:
NoDispAppearancePage NoDispBackgroundPage
NoDispCPL
NoDispScrSavPage
NoDispSettingsPage

Thanks for all your suggestions - unfortunately none of them have worked! Anyone else got anything? It's something I can live with, but it's just REALLY annoying! Cheers
