I have no sound when watching videos online (youtube.com) ...or windows
startup, shutdown, or any other windows related sounds. ( error, email,etc...)I have sound when watching videos that are saved on my PC, I can play games with sound, I can listen to streaming mp3's from di.fm using windows media player. I can play mp3's just fine.
I've tried uninstalling reinstalling SB Live from device mgr...no luck.
I've tried using a different sound card, tried uninstall codecs in safe mode, then reinstalling..no luck.
I can hear sound in dxdiag.
I've downloaded couple of reg fixes from
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm - didn't work.any ideas?
Thanks,
ed

I tell you what little I know about it.
Try this fix:
Go to Start>Run, type in regedit and hit ok.
Navagate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Sound
"Beep" and "ExtendedSounds" should both be set to "yes" in order for the speakers to work.
Another place to check.
Windows XP
See if your sound has been stopped in Services Under
Windows Audio.
Start - Control Panel - Open Administrative Tools - Open Component Services - Click Services (Local) and Scrowl down the list to Windows Audio to see if it says - Started. If stopped
Left click Windows Audio and click restart. -
Or
Right click Windows Audio - left click Properties - Left click Start.

thanks for the info.
I checked reg. and both say yes, and I've restarted windows audio service...no luck.
