New install of XP, when speakers plugged in and attempted to play cd- no sound.
WinMediaPlayer error: Cannot Playback the audio stream no audio hardware or the hardware is not responding. When I click on details it says: Ther eis not sound card.According to DirectX, the sound device name is : Creative Sound Blaster PCI (Emulated). However, when I run the sound test, I get the following error:Problem getting extra sound info result code=0x887800a(the request failed becuase DirectSound resources such as priority level were already in use by another caller"
Any ideas on fixing this issue?
Thanks

Hey man!
I think i can fix your problem. Creative Sound card dont work if you dont install the drives at all or not corectly. Now to know if they are go to the control panal and click on "system" then "hardware" then "hardware manager" in there check if you sound card is there or doesnt have a exclamation point next to it or anithing in yellow. if there is reinstall the drivers that came with the card. if you dotn have the drivers then go on creative.com and go to suport and download them there. If that doesnt work call creative's hotline or return your product if its new. make sure when you download the drivers that they are for windows xp and they are recent.

I have sound.
I ended up in the box, the sound card connection to the processor was loose! Thanks for your help
