No Sound

My souncard is not working ,i recently installed Windows XP Professional i got all the updated drivers but still i have no sound i checked the bios and my on board soundcard is enabled but still i have no sound anytime i try to play audio it says that there is no sound device installed or it is not responding i've also tryed reinstalling still nothing also in device manager there is a tab saying unknown device dont know what this is for
Can anybody help me solve this problem please Kenny

go into the control panel click on new hardware let it go and try and find it if it comes back and says no hardware found direct it to first sound then when it asks if you have a disk click yes then direct it to that disc drive

hy,
first you have to delete this tab in device manager that says unknown device.then restart your computer.after winxp has started again he will detect your new hardware and he will ask you for the drivers, then you should insert the cd or the disk with the drivers.
