Hi, i recently formatted my Sony VAIO VGN-FS840/W and i reinstalled all the driver and everything is working properly except the sound. I can't seem to get any sound, can someone help me with this problem please?

hi...please go to start >> run >> devmgmt.msc

please post if there are yellow markers...

also please reload ALL drivers from your driver cd

i don't have a driver cd, i downloaded them from the net but i've tried reinstalling it and still no sound. whenever i try to open the volume control from the start menu it says "There are no active mixer device available".

Go to the link below and click on the "?" to the left of "Where did my Sounds go?" to expand it and you'll find several possible fixes.

Also try this:

Go to Start > Run, and type in: services.msc.

A window will pop up with a list of services. Scroll down to Windows Audio. Right-click
and click on Properties.

Make sure that “Startup type” is set to automatic. Also, make sure, under “Service
status,” start is selected.

hey probfixer i downloaded the driver from the last link u posted above but i'm still not getting any sound. It's sayin i need a output device, someone told me i need to download a conexant modem high definition audio driver. Can u help me with a link to that please? remember its for a sony vaio vgn-fs840/w laptop.
