Hi, i recently formatted my Sony VAIO VGN-FS840/W and i reinstalled all the driver and everything is working properly except the sound. I can't seem to get any sound, can someone help me with this problem please?
Thank you

hi...please go to start >> run >> devmgmt.msc
please post if there are yellow markers...
also please reload ALL drivers from your driver cd

i don't have a driver cd, i downloaded them from the net but i've tried reinstalling it and still no sound. whenever i try to open the volume control from the start menu it says "There are no active mixer device available".

ok...I found a program to determine sound card name...astra32...download link : http://www.astra32.com/download ...
just find it`s model and post...

Dj. Cool,
Go to the link below and click on the "?" to the left of "Where did my Sounds go?" to expand it and you'll find several possible fixes.http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/top...
Also try this:
Go to Start > Run, and type in: services.msc.
A window will pop up with a list of services. Scroll down to Windows Audio. Right-click
and click on Properties.Make sure that “Startup type” is set to automatic. Also, make sure, under “Service
status,” start is selected.

In my opinion it's the best Windows XP site on the Internet.
