Not sure what boilsoft is and really didn't get a chance to google it. It sounds like you have an issue with your codec. I wouldn't tell you to download a codec pack. I'd rather tell you to download VLC player. It's a freeware and, you can throw anything on it and it will play it. Good Luck.

I have tried this with several different movies and none of them have sound, could it be the codec pack with all of them? Sorry not sure what that is

Why do you want to convert them anyway?
If you can watch them fine in one player with sound, then just use that.
If you are talking about converting them in preperation for burning onto a dvd, just use nero, its never failed me yet whilst doing this.
But you've gotta get vlc - its great, it really is the best for playing video stuff, it will also in some cases play incompleted downloads which is handy when your expecting one thing but it turns out your getting something else.

Codec pack: A codec is a device or program capable of performing encoding and decoding on a digital data stream or signal. The word codec may be a combination of any of the following: 'Compressor-Decompressor', 'Coder-Decoder', or 'Compression/Decompression algorithm'.

VLC: it is a player capable of playing any video file. Even if it's an image of a video, dvd, vcd, it will play it. Was able to play, avi, mpg, mpeg, mov, flv, and other files.

Not sure why you needed boilsoft? was the file split and you wanted to make it into one file?...
