Hello Jenny009,

Just to isolate the problem, can you see if the sounds on those internet sites work fine on another web browser ( such as internet explorer )? Also, have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling firefox?

It's always nice to have some feed back after things are fixed =)

Hey Jenny009,

Since you're experiencing the problems in both browsers, the problem is most likely not related to firefox so there is no need to try re-installing it. What you should try doing is uninstalling both Adobe Flash Player ( or related items ) as well as Java related items and try Re-installing them. Just go to:

Start->Control Panel->Add or Remove Programs

and for all the items that start with "Adobe Flash Player" or "Java", click on them and then click the "Remove" button that appears. Then restart your computer if necessary.

Now, you'll want to re-install them. Download and install Java from here:
http://www.java.com/en/download/ind...
and Adobe Flash from here:
http://www.adobe.com/products/flash...

After you've completed, test the websites again in both Firefox and Internet Explorer and post back.

It's always nice to have some feed back after things are fixed =)

Hey,

Try going to:

Start->Control Panel->Sounds and Audio Devices

Now, in the "Device Volume" section, click the "Advanced..." button. The "Play Control" window will open up. Go to the top left "Options" menu to select "Advanced Controls" and then click on "Properties". With the "Playback" bullet selected, check all the boxes in the section below labeled "Show the following volume controls:" and click the "OK" button. Now, back to the "Play Control". Uncheck anything that's muted ( microphone doesn't matter here ), and test again to see if your sites work. Also, when you're on a video site ( such at youtube ), try checking your flash options by right-clicking on the video then going to "Options". See if anything is muted.
If after all this, it is still not solved, it might be a problem related to your registry or even a DirectX related problem.
