OS: WIN XP HOME EDITION
CPU/Ram: PIII 500 / 512M SDRAM
Comment:

SYSTEM: PIII 500 , 512M SDRAM
MOTHERBOARD: QDI A/5-133 etc.,

The problem is with my PCI sound card (Leadtek Winfast 4X with CMI8738/C3DX PCI AUDIO chip from C-MEDIA).
I tried every driver i found on the net for this chip and WIN XP but all of them were a piece of s---.
I use PowerDvd Deluxe for XP or WinDVD and when i enable the SPDIF out choice i have no sound at all from the SPDIF OUT (coaxial or optical) to my 5.1 sound system.
The Mixer of the sound card has the choice of SPDIF but unfortunately it doesn't works when i check it.

Before WIN XP i had WIN ME and everything was OK.
I have to say that only the SPDIF out doesn't work. The analog outputs are OK when i play music CDs.
I believe that this is 100% driver's problem. I don't expect to find a solution now but if there is anyone who can realy help me i'd be gratefull.
Thanks in advance.

(Go to www.cmedia.com.tw then click on Technical Support and read the text under the blue choices which starts Be aware ... bla bla... and tell me then why should i prefer a product with cmedia chip than anything else. The guys must be joking or else what can i say?)
