Comment:

I have recently benn given this desktop computer but it has no sound from the desktop itself or when I plug in speakers. When I go into the sound audio device section it say no audio device and won't let me adjust the volume or add anything. Is there something I am missing on the computer?

thanks for any help anyone can give me.

thank you so much for your help I now have sound. I did put the make and model of my computer in the specification bit initially so I'm not sure what happened there. I have another problem that I'm not sure is solvable. I bought a Microsoft Office program to install on this computer but when I put the disk in the computer does not detect it's there. Someone said my computer is too sensitive! Is there anything I can do to make the computer detect the disc?

thanks

Not sure what they mean by "sensitive", I've never heard that one used before. Sounds like "autorun" has been turned off. Does the disc show up when you double-click the drive icon?

... though it might not be able to read the disk yet!

... it may work if you follow direction from #Response Number3 click HERE

... its a case of making "iso" image of cd then mounting it!

... the software may see it!

OK ... you downloaded "winxpvirtualcdcontrolpanel_21.exe"

... when you open it ... it is a "self extracter" file ...open/run ...an option "unzip to folder" ... is were the files are extracted to.. you can alter the destination ie C:\1 ... click unzip

... open "My Computer" open "C:\ " drive... open c:\1 <<< folder

... copy VCdRom.sys to C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers <<< folder

... when done right click open "VCdControlTool.exe"

... PHEW ! ... not to worry you will get there ... keep on asking!
