Hi
I have no sound after reformatting my hard drive.
I don't appear to have a sound card so I presume that I have onboard sound
Can anybody tell me how I can find out which drivers that I need to download.
I have been in device manager to try to identify this but so far have not had much luck
Thanks

The web site of the manufacturer should have drivers for download for you. Do you know the model number of your mobo ?

I wonder what'll happen if I do this ?

Hi
thanks for the quick response.
I don't know the model number of my mobo so I'm not sure where to start searching for drivers
Is there a download which can detect your mobo?

Download and run Belarc Advisor (it's free.) it will tell you what brand of motherboard you have as well as a lot of other info about your system. You can get it here:

I have downloaded Belarc advisor and under multimedia it says
C-Media AC97 Audio Device
Will it be this that I need the drivers for?

yes, that's the on board sound card installed on your motherboard. belarc should also tell you the namne of your motherboard manufactor. Find it, go to the website and download the drivers for the MB, it will have the sound driveers on it.

Still struggling getting the driver.
The above driver is 17mb and I am currently on a dial up connnection because my ISP has been messing with my line so it is going to take forever to download.
I went on NEC website as thsi is the motherboard manufacturer and couldn't find the drivers for the C-Media AC97 driver.
Anybody else got any suggections
