Help, My laptop no longer seems to have a working screen, my son was the last to use it and he says nothing happened to it that could have damaged it(yeah right!)
It seems to boot up,lights flash, fan starts etc.
The "stop" on the screen(where you open it and it wont go any further has gone too, its possible to nearly open it out flat(has he forced it passed the stop? if so could this be the reason it doesnt work?) everything still seems to be connected(no broken wires)
Before it stopped working he installed a usb printer on it too......... Thank in advance....Dooozie

I had a similar problem with a Dell laptop recently. Everything appeared to be working, you could even access the laptop over the network, but the screen was blank.
It transpired that the ribbon cable connecting the screen to the motherboard had worked lose. Press it back in and everything has been fine since.
These things happen with computers. The heating and cooling cause expansion and contraction and in time some connectors can work lose.
How you get to the socket depends on the laptop. On a Dell, removing the keyboard will do it.
