Comment:
C: Drive Does Not Appear in the My Computer Folder Computer works fine and I have set a shortcut on desktop to get to the C drive but it does not appear in My Computer. This is a problem when doing installs of new programs when you have to look for a folder to do something with. I installed a new drive just in case and still the same problem

Under Disk Management the C: drive appears as HP_PAVILION (C:) Partition / Basic /NTFS/Healty (System)/ 676.54GB /91.21GB/ free / No Fault Tolerance and 0% overhead

Yomongo, If by chance you have Tweak UI installed on that computer open Tweak UI click the "+" in front of "My Computer" click on "Drives and make sure that "C:" is checkmarked, click Apply/OK.

Try renaming it to C in Disk Management.
Not sure if you will be able to change the name as you can't change the drive letter assignment of the boot drive.
Right click on the drive in Disk Management and choose "Change drive letter and path".
That HP stuff may be the issue. That sounds like a mapped drive assignment.
Is this a stand alone computer or part of a company network?
Has this been like this or something new?
Have you had to re-install?

Tufenuf, thank you. I installed Tweakit and checked the drive and it is now there. I've been messing with this problem for 4 months and I installed a new program Sunday and couldn't point the install to the C: drive to do a look up of something. Interestingly TweakUI hangs up after I hit apply but the change does take place. Thanks ever so much to all who assisted me in this. And the fact that it took all of 1:20 to solve it is mine boggling.
