No reply when i ping the machine

February 7, 2011 at 06:55:41
Specs: Windows XP
When I try to ping the machine there is no reply as it gives "Request timed out" message, i see that the computer is connected in the office network, user will be able to access Outlook 2003, Office communicator 2005 without any problems. Had tried pinging from the affected machine to DNS, gateway & getting the reply. The main problem with the user is he could not access intranet but can access internet. Have tried the below troubleshooting but no go.

1. ipconfig /release & renew
2. netsh winsock reset
3. uninstalled the vdi but still no go
4. have checked the services ipsec, workstation have already started.
5. windows firewall is off
6. have tried connecting the pc to a different network port.

Please advice..

check if he has any other 3rd party firewall.... or try upgrading his computers lan drivers.... and also check for any other info in "host" file.... or check Internet explorer settings for any proxy info . and also delete any other dialup connections if present...
