No Repir Install option with upgrad

I am trying to do a repair install of Windows XP PRO using an upgrade CD. After I OK the EULA, it says it can't find a version of Windows to upgrade from so I need to insert my Windows ME CD. I do this but then it does not give me a repair install as an option. Any ideas to get around this? Am I forced to do a parallel install?

You will need to find a full Windows XP Pro CD, or go buy one. The upgrade CD's do not have the repair capability. Sorry.

To repair Win2K/XP you use the Recovery Console that can ber installed from the Repair menu after selecting Setup (that you don't have). Otherwise try installing it from within Windows (if it is in fact available)
To see if it is available on the CD go to Start, Run and type in: d:\i386\winnt32.exe /cmdcons ("d" is the assumed CD ROM drive letter) It will install it or not find it. "Installing and Using Recovery Console"
If it installs then when you boot up it will then appear on your boot menu.
