No printer icon when printing

I just bought a new comp. with xp sp2. I've noticed that there isn't any printer icon in the tray next to the clock that usually shows a few secs when printing a doc. I'm really missing it (it's neat to click if a job gets stuck or so). I have a network printer, but I'd like the icon to appear every time a print. How?
