Alway tinkler with some of these machine I have just to try and learn stuff. Have this one that right now just won't start at all. Changed power cord, checked surge potector, and wall plug. Still nothing. Maybe once a month this happens but if you kind of play with it I could come on. Not this time. Could it be the switch and just how could you like by pass it to check it out? Or power supply itself and how can that be checked? any ideals would be helpful. Thank you all. Oh yes do know battery in it is weak and does need replacing, If that means anything.

Replace the battery, test the power supply, test the RAM, and last but not least, bench test the MOBO. :)

A 'tinkler'? Surely you mean tinkerer - the other is hardly something to advertise

Not likely to be the switch - on modern (ATX) machines, it's not so much a physical switch but a pushbutton that briefly closes contacts.

It may be the power supply - simplest way to test is to try another with similar or higher rating. I gather this is a continuation of your earlier battery question - I suspected there was more to it than simple curiosity

(Gosh, not this 'ideal' 'idea' thing again - they are not interchangeable concepts)

We've heard that a million monkeys at a million keyboards could produce the complete works of Shakespeare; now, thanks to the Internet, we know that is not true
