Enter the BIOS screens and Enable the devices there. Tap del at startup to enter the BIOS. Save and exit when done.

Then you need to install the drivers for the sound chip.

Go to Device manager and look for sound devices there. Chances are they are listed with a yellow exclamation mark next to them. Install the sound drivers from the MBoard manufacturer or CD.

I don't have any yellow marks in Device Manager, In fact, all the audio devices are enabled and working properly ACCORDING to the Device Manager. I'll check BIOS again and your mention of MoBo reminds me that I have sound on the MoBo as well as a Sound Blaster

"Checked on my B9os for something new". Did you enter the BIOS screens at startup by tapping the del key? This will take you to the BIOS. The screens at startup are called the POST screens (Power On Self Test). They report what hardware is being configured. In the BIOS screens in integrated hardware area (heading varies by BIOS) there are choices to enable/ disable integrated devices. Sound should be located there. IF sound is Enabled there then you will get additional selections. One of thenm will address midi.
While it is possible to use TWO sound sources, I wouldn't recommend that as it is hard to configure.
If you have an add in sound card and wish to use it then Disable all listings for sound in the BIOS. Then install the correct drivers for the Sound Blaster card.
Conversely, if you wish to use the onboard sound, then remove the Sound blaster card from the MBoard. Be sure to have computer unplugged and take proper static precautions. One other thing, which should be obvious but often overlooked, be sure to connect your speakers to the corresponding ports. SB in use/ connect to that card.

I have not done the item suggested by OtheHill because I am temporarily wheelchair bound. Will need help for that. However, as I read about other peoples problem with "No Audio Device" I found a solution that required the removal and re-installation of the "Plug nd Play Software Device Enumerator" (a device in the device manager under System Devices). So I looked at mine and a yellow mark was beside it. I became excited. Maybe we found the cause for "NO Audio Device" So un-installed it as suggested and then re-installed it (several times). The yellow mark remained.I then looked at properties for this device and was presented with the following msg. "This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)"
So I did everything the trouble shooter suggested with no success. Still a yellow mark.Might be way off on a tangent here but I have run out of ideas.
Any ideas on the Plug and Play device not working?

I use onboard sound but I don't enable the midi as I don't need it. It is possible to use sound without the midi.
Sorry to hear you are wheelchair bound but I fail to see how that stops you from Entering the BIOS screens.
That is done from the keyboard. No need to open the case.
Tap del continously at startup until the BIOS screens open.

If I wanted to remove the Sound Blaster card I need to open the computer. Yes I can enable/disable the onboard sound from the Bios.

Oh, OK. You can try the opposite method. Disable all the sound entries in the BIOS and then retry installing the drivers for your card.
SB has many differnt cards. It is important to have the corrct drivers. The creative site may only have updates for a particular card instead of the full driver package. I gave up on SB products long ago. That was part of the reason. They were also resource hogs.

I traced the sound problem to the PnP Software Device Enumerator which I could not fix. finally I just formatted and reinstalled everything. All OK now.
Thanks for the ideas and hints,
Bill
