No logon server in XP ?

I have home network where I am using desktop in workgroup (XP pro) and my office laptop W2K pro. When I am trying to connect to shared resources in my desktop I get error: not available- no logon server in my XP. -- any ideas?

Being I know very little about XP Pro, I am going to guess one of the needed services is not activated in your XP machine. THis is just a guess though.

Make sure you have the security settings set correctly on the shared resource and insure that all of your net work settings are correct. Hopefully that will do the trick

Have you joined the proper "Workgroup". I've seen this happen sometimes if the user joins the "Domain" instead of the "Workgroup". In the Computer Name area of the Computer Sytem Properties, check to make sure you are using "Workgroups" instead of "Domains".
