i have a xp pro system with simple sharing DISABLED. i have set up a user with password and i want to share a folder that can only be accessed by that user from another machine (win2000 pro). i set up the share with the correct permissions. it all went fine. BUT - the win2000 client does not receive a login prompt. instead, the shared folder shows up and when i click on it, it says it wasn't accessible. when i add "Everyone" to the folder permissions, the folder is accessible from the w2k client (without login prompt) - but that is not what i need. i need to restrict access to specific users. when i check the "Effective Permissions" they show up correctly for the user i created. i searched google and this forum but no results yet. anyone any ideas??
