No internet in XP after standby

For the first time ever, I recently tried to put my computer into standby mode. When I did this, my computer automatically restarted itself. But when XP booted up, everything took a little longer to load and I now have no internet connection. I share a broadband connection through a router which is working fine. Also, my ethernet card doesn't seem to be getting a signel as it usually indicates one with a light.
I have tried enabling and disabling my ethernet card connection in the Network Properties but that's not working. I've also tried restarting the computer and it has the same problem. The real problem is that I cannot get access to the internet at all.
I've checked this forum for answers but it seems the ones with my exact problem aren't really solved. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Christian, I have been having the same problem when I reboot. I do finally see the local area connection show up after a reboot but it takes about 2 minits for it to get its act together so I can connect to the internet.
I get the following event in my system log...
The server {A1F4E726-8CF1-11D1-BF92-0060081ED811} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.
If anyone has seen this and has a resolution I am all ears and any help would be greatly appreciated! Barry
