|So, I have a Dell Inspiron E1705 running on Windows XP version 5.1, and avast antivirus software. Today, while doing the ordinary routine of checking my e-mail, school website, and facebook, my internet stopped working. It's raining so I thought it was a router problem, after restarting my router, the internet still didn't work. So I restarted my computer.|
So here's the problem, There are no icons, no taskbar, no start menu, I can't ctrl+alt+del, I can't right click, I can't do anything. I started up in safe mode, same problem. I tried doing system restore, it says I have no restore points. I can't even run explorer, regedit, taskmgr, or notepad. I'd say I have an intermediate knowlege of computers and I've tried everything I knew, and everything I could find.
The only thing that I can think of to cause this, is yesterday I installed Mozilla Firefox. I've had my laptop for over 4 years and this is the first time I've ever had a problem with it. I do not have any idea where my original XP disks are. Is there anything I can do, or must I take it in to a computer repair store?
