Hello,

There are two ways to solve this problem. You can do it manually by changing a value in the Registry, or you can use MS Powertoys for WinXP (Tweak UI).

Let's begin with the easy way first:

If you have Powertoys/TweakUI, click on "General" on the left side, and make sure that the box next to "Beep on errors" is checked. Click Apply/OK, and restart your computer (you may need to adjust your volume control).

If you don't have Powertoys/TweakUI for WinXP, follow these steps:

Go to Start/Run and type regedit
Press Enter.
The Registry Editor window will open.
In the left pane, click on the [+] sign next to HKEY_CURRENT_USER and then on the [+] next to Control Panel.
Click on the entry called Sound and look at the right pane.
See whether the value for the word "Beeps" is "yes" or "no".
If you want to hear the sounds, right click "Beeps", click on MODIFY, set the value to Yes.
Otherwise, set the value to No.

Exit and reboot your computer. Again, you may need to adjust the volume control.

Please post back and let us know if you've been able to solve the problem.

Good luck.
Juan

Hi,

If "beep on errors" was checked in TweakUI, then I would take a look in the Registry too, as indicated in my previous post. I think it is the only way to make sure that the setting has been correctly modified by TweakUI.

Hi,
i have the same problem here.
Value in Tweak UI is good, register too.

New outlook 2003 has no sounds too, except the extra feedback sounds
