Hey could you please tell me if you get Non-System Disk Error message. If it doesnt try to check the disk at all, then you need to modify the boot sequence in BIOS.

To boot from the floppy you have to enter the bios setup routine and put the floppy drive first in the boot up sequence. Watch your screen when you boot to see the key(s0 to hit to enter the bios setup routine.

Look down about three or four posts where you posted the same question. There will be your answer. By the way, WHY!! are you in such a hurry to format if you don't have anything to put on it. Sounds like its not on the up and up to me.

Domass is right! If you have a NTFS drive, you will not be able to format it. It will be necessary to remove the NTFS partition, repartition as FAT32 and then you will be able to format it. If you insist on going through with it, you can clear the hard drive with Killdisk, like Domass suggests in your other post. Use fdisk to repartition and then you will be able to format. This is all wasted effort because the XP install will redo everything.
