Im having a problem with xp..had to use task manager to get online and find what went wrong...spybot picked up "DyFuCa" ..a lot of entries for it too...an "MSinstall"...so maby u guys can make sence of it...antivir shows clean...but im still gonna update it...i have been getting blank dos prompt windows named "ddm_d"...it has a folder in "Programs" named "ddm"...."sysu" "ddm_d" both are apps....????.....after that i put the system on standby and havent been on it in a while....i have a firewall too..and it said major security break...i have the ip of where it went to or came from...a "programer guy" i know said it was probally someone tring to get access to my system...but instead the firewall shut the door...so mabey...this IS a new virus....????....

Oh, and SPYBOT (free off the net) should get rid of MSinstall for you, but remember to update it before you run a scan.

HEY..i fugured out the problem...that app "sysu" is whats keeping the desktop and start menu from starting....all i had to do is end the program in task manager...now im removing it from the registry..and deliting the files....thanks man..for trying....i hope this will help other ppl.... its in C:programs\ddm ..under the name sysu....hehe...another 1 bites the dust.....
