When I have recently started my PC, the D and E Drives have both gone missing from My Computer. In the case of the D Drive, I am unable to open the cassette area to place a CD in the drive.

Assuming, d and e are cd or dvd drives, are they in the device manager?

Check the wide ribbon wire on them. But first check to see if the bios sees them.

I'm having this same problem. I'm not the most computer savvy person on the planet, so any help (ie: semi-detailed instructions) would be most helpful.

Sorry about this but same as response 4, could you please take me step-wise through how to check the bios or the wide ribbon wire because you have kind of lost me now. Thanks for all the time you are giving to help me though, it is very much appreciated.
