Hi, I have a laptop computer and for some strange reason I cant dial upto the internet via the modem. Device manager lists no COM ports at all. Any help is appreciated. It worked before but doesnt now and all i get are the following errors: I USED THE DIAGNOSTICS IN PHONE & MODEMS OPTION IN CONTROL PANEL: and the check says the port that the modem is using is currently open by another application. Exit any applications that maybe using the port. THE WINDOWS TROUBLESHOOTER VIA HELP & SUPPORT CENTER: says is your COM port turned off, the troubleshooter detected the COM port maybe disabled. THE MODEM HELPER SOFTWARE THAT CAME WITH THE PC SAYS: COM port conflict detected, there is a software application that is using the modem.

u install anything recently? if so this naybe the conflict and try to unistal if so and see if it helps Please keep us updated so we know if we helped you or not.

This would be a real good place to say what kind of modem and how it's attached. If at first you don't succeed, you're about average. M2
