No CD ROM/DVD

I cannot get my CD ROM or DVD to read. I continually get a pop up at the start of Windows XP. "Devices/Applications Disabled." "CD recording software will cause Windows to become unstable. Windows has prevented these drivers from loading." Please advise.

Thank you much for the info, however, no success. I went to the site, I followed the instructions to the "T" to the "Letter", no go. I still get the annoying popup and no CD ROM's. Please advise further. Again, thanks.

did it ever work?
mine wouldnt work when i moved the harddrive into another computer to see if i was still having the copy paste weird problem and to see if it was the motherboard doing it
maybe you need a new fdisk and a full fresh install will only solve problem
