I cannot seem to find the correct driver bundle for audio (Onboard)for this system:
Board: SiS-730
Bus Clock: 133 megahertz
1.20 gigahertz AMD Athlon
128 kilobyte primary memory cache
256 kilobyte secondary memory cache
BIOS: Award Software International, Inc. 6.00 PG 05/31/2001
SiS 630/730 [Display adapter]
I have downloaded drivers from
SIS.com and they do not work.
I have been using dxdiag command to bring up directX diagnostics and when I reach audio I get "Your software does not support buffering".
Where might I get the correct drivers or
info on how to set this system to play sounds?
I should mention this unit was donated and I do not have any support software with it.
Additionally I am running Win XP Pro.TIA

Is this onboard audio? What motherboard? SiS730 is the chipset model, not the motherboard model. Download the audio drivers from the motherboard manufacturer's website
Asus A7N8X-X
1800+ @8x210mhz
512mb PC3200
Ti4200/8X 128mb
WDC 60GB

The start-up screen identifies the board as:
SIS-730-6A6ISE19C-00
The audio and graphics are onboard.I'm not sure who makes it.
Does this help?
TIA

Hi, after doing a bit of googling
I have come up with this find
Motherboard SiS-730-6A6ISE19C-00
Motherboard Name ECS K7SEMand found this link for the audio drivers
http://www.ecsusa.com/downloads/drivers_sound.html
Scroll down to towards the bottom of the page and the SiS 7018 Sound Driver download is located there.

Alan56,
Thanks for helping!!!
I too was googling and happened across the same site. I have downloaded the drivers and installed them but still no onboard audio.I have checked in the bios for onboard audio and see nothing there.
Shouldn't there be a way to disable it so I can throw in a PCI audio card if need be?
Also shouldn't I locate the 4 in 1 via upgrades that usually come with the motherboards? I have tried the speakers in another pc and they work fine. This PC is real clean and after inspecting inside I see no trama! What is this buffering problem dxdiag informs me of ?
Any help would be appreciated.TIA DJMike

Did you reboot after installing the drivers? silly question I know ;-)
You should be able to enable/disable on board sounds in the bios...
I think it would be under the peripherals section in the bios..have a good scout around....
