Hi,
I have just installed XP on a pc I bought second hand.
I cannot get any audio (MP3/System Sounds etc)
I have found too much info to deigest properly and could do with some help.
When I go to the audio controls, everything is greyed out and it says "No Audio Device."
I also get a "No Active Mixer Device" error code.
In device manager the following sound devices are listed:
Audio Codecs
Legacy Audio Drivers
Media Control Devices
MPU-401 Compatible MIDI deviceDo I need to update my drivers? How do I identify which is my sound device?
I need a good walkthrough to rectify this.
Thanks!

There is an onboard S.C.
The speakers are plugged into correct port.
I have tried to use headphones but get the same error.I also get a WMP9 error - 0xC00D11BA
Thanks

Download and run Everest Home Edition. It should tell you all about your PC. You probably need to install the motherboard drivers.

Do yourself a favor BACKUP!
Sorry, I do not check for private messages

and C00D11BA (Cannot play the file because there is a
problem with your sound device) along with most sound card related problems
can be fixed just reinstalling the drivers for the sound card.
Windows Media Player uses DirectSound to interface with the sound card, so
sound very well might work in other applications and just not WMP. More
information and tips can be found at http://tinyurl.com/3455d.
If reinstalling the drivers doesn't fix the problem then the next step you
should try is updating/reinstalling DirectX. DirectX can be downloaded at
