I recently rebooted my operating system, about a month and a half ago, and think that may be contributing to my problem. I try to play an audio CD on my windows media player and a message comes up that won't allow me to play it. It says that my audio device may not be functioning properly or that there may be no audio device installed on my computer. When I go to sound and audio devices in my control panel it says there is no audio device. I've tried using help and support and have tried many things to fix it but can't seem to get it to work.
Can someone please help me out with this?

r.click my computer and select properties. Then select the hardware tab and then device manager button.
In device manager look for sound and audio hardware and see if there is an issue such as an unknown device or other. If so then it could be that the drivers for the audio device have failed or that the device itself is gone bad.First thing you need to do is DETERMINE the exact sound device that is installed on your computer.
The best way would be to go to the manufacturers web site and under support/drivers/downloads??? look for the model of your computer and any driver files for sound or audio.
Download this file to your desktop and exit all windows.
locate the file on your desktop and install it.
Now reboot your computer and see if it finds new hardware.
If not then go back to device manager and then double click the unknown audio device and select driver and choose to uninstall the device. Then reboot and let windows install the newest driver that you just installed. In The Matters Of Style,
