Hi, I have been trying to install a new AV and I keep getting the error:
Error -1607: Unable to Install InstallShield Scripting Run Time

I found this site on the net:
http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q108340
and the only problem is, there is no address box in Windows Explorer. Does anyone know how to get it to show up? I tried all the things I could and the address box is checked to view, but still it isn't there.
I'm sure tufenuf or any of you other guys might have a solution. Thanks

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

XpUser4Real, Open Windows Explorer, right click the Toolbar and unlock it which should then show the word Address with a dotted verticle line to the left of it. Move your cursor over that dotted verticle line till it turns into a 2 sided arrow, hold your left mouse button down and drag downwards and the Address box will appear, Release the left mouse button then right click the Toolbar again and Lock it.

Well, I got to the part where I inserted C:\Windows\Installer into the address box. That opened a new page, but instead of seeing a folder for inf and a folder for installer, there were 49 objects that were all numbered.
Any idea where to find those 2 folders? I already have it set to view hidden files a requested.
Thanks

XpUser4Real,

If, if you are using windows explorer. By typing the complete address (full), in the address bar. It will open, show the contents of that folder, in the right-hand side. And in the left side, the folder will be highlighted, ok. So, if you type;
'c:\windows\Installer'
the contents of that folder are at the right, and the 'Installer' folder is highlighted at the left. What do you mean by; "but instead of seeing a folder for inf and a folder for installer, there were 49 objects that were all numbered." One, if you're talking of the right side, that's the contents, as I've said... wait, are you talking of the picture, at your link?? If so, that's the left side, and only left side shown. As the rest, is cut off. Notice, it says 'Folders', and also as I said, the 'installer' folder is highlighted ;-) And if you are showing hidden files/folders, the 'inf' folder will be right above it. If not showing hidden files/folders. Just type;
'c:\windows\inf'
and there it'll be :-)

Hope that was helpful. If not, needed a little finger play anyway...

Good Luck,
CrazyOne

p.s. You used their way(s), to start, yes. Hope so, and if not, might understand a little bit.

CrazyOne, thanks for the reply. I did what you said and sure enough the 'inf' folder was on the left. But there is no 'installer' folder, so I'm still at a loss, as that is the folder to be edited. The only 2 folders under inf are:
i386 and IEM (which has a sub folder 0409)

XpUser4Real, The probable reason you can't see the installer folder is because it's both a hidden file and a protected system file. Go into folder options>View tab and tic Show Hidden Files & Folders and uncheck "Hide protected operating system files (recommended)", click Apply/OK. Now you should be able to find it.

Thanks again tufenuf, that was what I needed!

This sure seems like an uphill battle....PHEW! Now when I right click the installer folder and go to properties there is no security tab, all I get is General, Sharing and customize, when the link I was given http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q108340
says that I should select the security tab?

This gets harder by the minute...anyone? Thanks
