Comment:

I just finished building a new computer. When I turned it on, it stopped at Post Code 75. After a little while, it will go to Post Code 7F. I tried clearing CMOS with no luck. In Bios I Set Fail-Safe Defaults and now it says that I have to reset the CPU. One thing I noticed is everything appears to be half of what it should be. It displays RAM, CPU Speed, and some other stuff as only half. It does not recognize my Hard Drive but on booting up it shows half the memory of my Hard Drive.

Sounds like you assembled the wrong parts. Double check your hardware specs [cpu matches mainboard supported list, memory is the correct type supported by the mainboard, etc] and all the mainboard jumpers are correctly set.

Give a person a fish, they eat for a day. Suggest they internet search and they learn a skill for a lifetime.

Hardware list: Motherboard Chaintech-7JNL6, CPU-AMD Athon XP 2900+, HDD-Western Digital 120GB, RAM-Ultra 512MB PC3200 DDR 400Mhz, Video card-XFX GeForce FX 5500 / 256MB DDR / AGP 8X / VGA / DVI / TV Out, Monitor-HP vs15 LCD 15" Flat Panel Monitor Speakers, and Case-Just 4 PC - 757 - Beige ATX Mid-Tower Case with Front USB & Audio Ports and 425Watt Power Supply. I think that's it. I went to Chaintech's Website. In FAQ, it said to Load Optimized Defaults. This kind of looks like a Flash BIOS. I'm cautious. Thanks for any help. Golfer 24
