new XP, new hard drive, no ethernet

i just built a custom computer and installed a new windows XP home and have cable internet hard lined to my computer through ethernet. but when i try to connect to the internet then i get no connection.

You need to install all the drivers associated with the MBoard.

"i am pretty sure since its a brand new motherboard" No, YOU have to install the drivers (chipset, video, sound, ethernet, etc). You should have gotten a drivers CD with the new board, if not, go to the manufacturer's website, download, then install. How did you get the sound & video working?
