New wireless mouse freezes XP startup

Specs: Windows XP, 1 GB Ram
I have an Acer laptop, Acer 5520 with Windows XP.

Recently brought a Logitech wireless mouse, M205. The mouse works fine but the laptop has now started hanging during startup. The first time the laptop hung was after i shut down the laptop after using my new mouse for the first time and started it the next morning. The mouse's USB was still in the drive. It instantly occurred to me that the USB must have been the prob. With the laptop stuck at the load bar even before the XP splash screen, I cud think of no other option but pressing down and holding the power button to switch the laptop off.

I immediately switched my laptop on again, this time after removing the mouse USB. But again the same prob repeated itself. This time, a friend suggested pressing F8, at the same point. I did and the load bar completed its loading and the splash screen appeared and the laptop started normally. It did not go into safe mode and everything was normal. Now the prob has become a daily one and everyday I have to repeat the same process to get my laptop started even though I dont even use my Logitech wireless mouse anymore for fear of causing further damage to my laptop.

Can someone tell me what the prob is and how to rectify it.

Most probably, the new driver automatically installed for your device is causing the problem. Try to restore your laptop to an earlier date using system restore. I guess it will work.
