Specs: Windows XP
I am relativly new to computers, meaning I am pretty good at using them, but I want to understand exactly how they work. I am currently reading CompTIA A. I am on Chapter 2 and that is on operating systems. I am wondering if there is anybody out there who is willing to help me learn and help me stay on track. Thanks, guys!

CompTIA is more of a study guide. If your interested in hardware, a better source may be Scott Mueller's "Upgrading & Repairing PC's", which is near it's 20th Edition. It takes you through the basics all the way to the latest (as of publication) in hardware. It's a huge book (>1000 pages), but still worth the price:

"Channeling the spirit of jboy..."

Many of the repeat helpers and I are willing if we have time.

You can PM most of the people here for private questions. If they are specific you can always post the topic here. If they are real easy, you might sometimes get the did you try google answer.

1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk.

May I suggest. Pick up a cheap computer (working...OS is not important)

Take the computer apart ....remove hard drives ,cdroms, power supply ,ram, A: drive. then put it back together.

I'm talking clunker here....under $30.00.

Not knowing where you live but a lot of computer find their way to the curb on trash day....
